What is Circumcision Revision?
Circumcision revision is a medical procedure that is performed to remove excess foreskin from the penis. This condition, known as “incomplete circumcision,” can occur when too little foreskin is removed during the initial circumcision surgery. In some cases, circumcision revision may also be necessary to address medical problems that have developed as a result of incomplete circumcision.
What are the benefits of circumcision revision?
There are several benefits of circumcision revision, including:
- Improved appearance of the penis
- Reduced risk of medical problems associated with incomplete circumcision
- Increased satisfaction with sexual function
- Enhanced self-esteem and confidence

Pricing for Circumcision Revision
The total cost for circumcision revision for boys, teens, and men is $2200, with a $400.00 deposit to hold the appointment and the remaining $1800.00 due on the day of the procedure. We do ask our patients to pay in full at the time of service. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable. If you do cancel and reschedule 7 days or more from the date of your appointment, the deposit will apply to the cost of the procedure. If you cancel 6 days or less before the originally-scheduled appointment and you wish to reschedule the appointment then you will need to pay a new deposit. We have this policy out of consideration for other clients who may have wished to schedule in that time slot but did not have the opportunity because it was held for you. If you cancel very close to the appointment, someone else did not have a chance to schedule in that time slot.
We do not take insurance for the procedure.
It is our experience that insurance does not cover the cost of a circumcision revision. Most insurance companies have a disclaimer that says they will only pay for procedures that are “reasonable and necessary”. Despite how the patient may feel about the necessity of this procedure, the insurance companies usually do not considerate it to be medically necessary and they do not pay for it. Thus, the medical group is not affiliated with any insurance companies and does not file insurance claims for the procedure.
Financing is available through Care Credit, including the possibility of a payment plan that is interest free for 6-months. Please call the clinic during business hours for more information
Reasons for Circumcision Revision
There are a few reasons why someone might want circumcision revision. The most common reason is related to cosmetic concerns from the original procedure. For parents with religious or cultural motivations, the appearance of the penis is often of utmost importance. Additionally, the medical benefits of circumcision ( such as a reduction in urinary tract infections, lower STD risk, etc) may also be affected.
In the case of neonatal circumcision, it’s suggested that any issues from the original procedure be addressed as soon as possible. For older boys and men, circumcision revision can still provide many benefits. Regardless of the reason for circumcision revision, it’s always best to seek out a professional opinion to ensure the best possible outcome.
Not Enough Foreskin Removed
When circumcision doesn’t remove enough of the foreskin, it’s called redundant foreskin. This is also considered an outcome of “incomplete circumcision.” When the penis is flaccid, the foreskin covers the glans, so it appears uncircumcised.
Circumcision revision may be needed to fix this.
Circumcision revision is a procedure that removes more of the foreskin to reduce redundant tissue. This can be done for cosmetic reasons or to improve function. Circumcision revision may also be necessary if you have problems with hygiene or pain during sex due to too much foreskin. Usually a simple outpatient procedure that takes less than an hour circumcision revision recovery time is short, and most men can return to their normal activities within a few days.

This is a very rare occurrence in North American circumcision procedures, though first time parents may harbor worries. Dr. McAuliff is sensitive to those concerns, so don’t hesitate to ask questions. If you need to correct a procedure that was done elsewhere, Comfort Procedures is here to help with a safe and gentle circumcision revision.
